Meet our team.
Justine Bell is Chief Human Resources Officer for Homesteaders Life Company. She is responsible for driving the company’s human resources strategy, including talent development, employee engagement, regulatory compliance and organizational growth. Bell brings more than a decade of HR leadership experience across global organizations, financial institutions and high-growth companies. She holds a bachelor's degree in organizational studies (HR) from the University of Iowa and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in human resources and employment law from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
Will Bischoff is Senior VP-Strategic Markets for Homesteaders Life Company. He is responsible for working with distribution partners and funeral home owners to implement preneed strategies for long-term success. Prior to joining Homesteaders in 2015, Bischoff served as the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Forethought Financial Group and Operations Controller and Vice President of Corporate Development for Keystone Group Holdings. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Spring Hill College and his MBA in corporate finance from University of Tampa, John H. Sykes College of Business. In 2022, Bischoff was appointed as a trustee for the Funeral Service Foundation.

Danette Kobolt is Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel for Homesteaders Life Company. She is responsible for corporate compliance, regulatory compliance, corporate legal matters, cybersecurity compliance and enterprise risk management. In addition, she serves as Homesteaders' Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer, Head of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Chief Privacy Officer. Kobolt brings extensive experience in regulatory compliance and legal matters, having worked in both federal and state government as well as the mutual insurance industry. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Northern Iowa, her MBA from Drake University and her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Danielle Burmeister is VP-Marketing and Communications for Homesteaders Life Company. She leads the team responsible for all aspects of Homesteaders’ marketing and branding. Prior to joining Homesteaders in 2015, Burmeister served as marketing coordinator for the Iowa State Fair and associate faculty for Ashford University. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Central College and her master’s degree from Iowa State University. In addition, Burmeister is a fellow in the Life Management Institute (FLMI), has received Homesteaders’ Rising Star Award and was nominated for Outstanding Teamwork Award.
Ron Crawley is the VP-IT Application Delivery for Homesteaders Life Company. He leads the team responsible for delivering leading-edge software solutions ensuring our technology meets the growing needs of our customers. Prior to joining Homesteaders in 2018, Crawley served as Director Solution Delivery with Kum & Go where he was responsible for the technology supporting data management, data analytics and customer loyalty programs. Ron brings more than 20 years of technology experience that spans the retail, financial and insurance industries.
Tristan Moreland is the VP-IT Infrastructure and Operations for Homesteaders Life Company. He is responsible for overseeing the company's IT infrastructure, driving operational excellence and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives. Before joining Homesteaders in 2019, Moreland worked as a software engineer in various industries. He earned his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Iowa State University. In addition, he’s a recent alumnus of the Technology Association of Iowa’s Leadership Institute and recipient of the 2020 Homesteaders’ Heroes Rising Star award.
Scott Morris joined Homesteaders Life Company in 2018 as Regional Director of Strategic Markets. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and the University of Dayton. In his current role, Scott draws upon his 23 years of sales experience, including 16 years in the funeral profession, to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive positive change and achieve the best results.

Our policy owners elect all members of our board of directors — the Homesteaders Mutual Insurance Holding Company Board of Directors — to help ensure the long-term security of our policy owners, funeral home customers and employees. These individuals serve as executives across relevant professions and focus on strategy, enterprise risk management, governance and management oversight when serving on our board.
